    Vertical Blenders
vertical blender Vertical blenders work best when your product is shear sensitive. Vertical blenders transfer less heat to your product compared to ribbon blenders. Plus a vertical blender provides low impact blending with a slow turning blending screw. Advantages of vertical blenders over other blender styles include:
  • Batch flexibility - Batches as small as 10% of the mixers capacity can be mixed properly
  • Nearly 100% of your product will be discharged because of Ross's "unsupported screw" design
  • Easy cleaning - No packing glands to disassemble during cleaning
  • Vertical blenders' consume less energy compared to other blender types of similar capacity because of their low horsepower to volume ratio

    Vacuum Dryers
Vacuum dryers work by applying vacuum simultaneously with gentle heat and slow agitation, removing moisture and gently drying your product. vacuum drying system schematicVacuum dryers can be used to recover solvent for recycling or disposal. Heat-sensitive products regularly processed with vacuum dryers to eliminate thermal degradation include:
  • Foods
  • Botanicals
  • Pharmaceuticals
Ross manufactures vacuum dryer systems using the mixer that best suits the mixing application. All Ross Mixers can be set-up to work as vacuum drying systems.

    High Shear Batch Mixers
Ross batch mixers are available in sizes that can handle batches between 50 ml to 6,000 gallons. Condit can help you find a Ross batch mixer to give you unmatched mixing efficiency and flexibility. Batch mixers give you the flexibility to use the same mixer in multiple vessels and to control the mixer's angle of attack.batch mixer The mixer can be used off center or on an angle to give you the best mixing results. Two high shear batch mixer series are available: Series 100 and Series 500.
  • Series 100 - Units up to 10 hp featuring explosion proof motors. An optional rolling hydraulic stand makes moving between vessels easier. The standard material of construction is 316 stainless steel. Optional materials are available.
  • Series 500 - Units from 10 to 200 hp can be mounted permanently to a vessel or suspended from above the vessel. The explosion proof motor combined with a mechanical seal make the 500 series ideal for sanitary applications. A polished stainless steel finish is an option in place of the standard epoxy paint for food and pharmaceutical applications that require sanitary equipment.

    High Shear In-line Mixers
A small High Shear In-Line Mixer can handle a small batch as easily as a 3300 gallon batch. A batch mixer requires a larger motor to generate enough shear to mix a batch because it is working in a large open vessel in-line mixercompared to an In-Line Mixer that can process the same or larger batch with a smaller motor. As the batch size increases the energy required by the In-Line Mixer remains fixed. High Shear In-Line Mixers are self-pumping. Under normal circumstances the In-line Mixer can handle mix materials up to 10000 cps without an auxiliary pump. With an auxiliary pump an In-Line Mixer easily mixes material up to 200000 cps. Benefits of using Ross High Shear In-Line Mixers include:
  • Simple changeover from one product to another
  • Between batch cleaning is easy
  • Interchangeable rotor/stator generators provide flexibility for multiple product recipes
  • Easy switching between source vessels via simple valves

    Multi-Shaft Mixers
All Multi-Shaft Mixers come standard in 304 Stainless Steel. A vertical hydraulic lift makes it easy to change-out the removable mix vessel. Multiple mix vessels can be used. Explosion proof induction motors are also standard equipment. A dual shaft and triple shaft version are offered. The main differences are:
  • Dual Shaft design incorporates a two-wing anchor agitator and a conventional high speed disperser making it well suited for general mixing and dispersion applications.
  • Triple shaft design adds either a high shear rotor-stator mixer or a second high speed disperser. The high shear rotor-stator mixer helps the mixer efficiently combine products that need higher shear to reduce particle size.

    Double Planetary Mixers
Ross has been the innovator and leader in Double Planetary Mixer design for 50 years. Well suited for mixing high viscosity materials, Double Planetary Mixers can be optimized for operation in many industries. double planetary mixerIn a Ross Double Planetary Mixer, two planetary blades rotate on their own axes, while they orbit the mix vessel on a common axis. The blades continuously advance along the periphery of the vessel, removing material from the vessel wall and transporting it to the interior.

In only 36 revolutions, the Double Planetary Mixer's blades have touched virtually the entire batch. It only takes a few minutes for the blades to completely mix a batch and by preventing a layer from forming on the periphery, the blades ensure efficient transfer throughout the batch. Three different blade types are available:
  • Rectangular blades - Appropriate for most applications. They are the proven choice for many low to high viscosity mixing applications.
  • Finger Blades - Specialty blades optimized for mixing delicate solids and fibers.
  • New HV Blades - Patented high viscosity blades for ultra high viscosity materials. Stops materials from "climbing up" the blades.

The new high viscosity blades for ultra high viscosity applications allow the Ross Double Planetary Mixer to be used in place of Double Arm Kneaders. Advantages of the Ross Double Planetary Mixer compared to Double Arm Kneaders include:
  • Less expensive
  • Requires less maintenance
  • No packing glands or bearings submerged in the product zone

    PowerMix, Planetary Mixers
The patented PowerMix planetary mixer is ideal for processes that have several mixing steps. The PowerMix can often replace two mixers in a process. A PowerMix Planetary Mixer has two blades on one axis: a planetary blade and a high-speed disperser blade. The planetary blade constantly feeds material into the high shear zone of the circling high-speed disperser. In most processes, the PowerMix planetary cuts the mixing cycle time by 50% or more.

    Turboemulsifier
Turboemulsifier The pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry standard for mixing fine creams and lotions, the Turboemulsifier is an advanced counter-rotating mixer. One reason the Turboemulsifier handles viscous products so easily is its design incorporates coaxial shafts and bearings. Turboemulsifier features include:
  • Counter rotating blades and high speed emulsifier
  • Advanced injection system - adds powders and liquids directly into the emulsifier's high shear zone
  • Can efficiently run batches at 15% of working capacity
  • Equipped for vacuum/pressure, CIP (clean in place), and SIP (steam in place)
  • Optional change-can allows remote discharge and vessel cleaning
