Oil/Water Separators Carryover oil from oil-lubricated compressors exits the compressed air system with the condensate produced at
aftercooler/separators, wet air receivers, coalescing filters and refrigerated air dryers. The EPA has found oil latent condensate is unsafe to discharge to surface waters,
sanitary sewers, or waste treatment facilities. Oil is only a small portion of the condensate. By using an oil/water separator you can remove oil from condensate allowing the
discharge of the water portion by conventional means. The oil still needs to be properly disposed of, but at a much lower cost than the original large volume of oil and water
condensate.
